Urological Screening

Urological screening exams play an important role in the early detection of prostate cancer and other urological diseases. Men are recommended to have regular check-ups with a urologist starting from the age of 45/50 years. For men with a family history of prostate or breast cancer, it may be advisable to start these examinations at an earlier age. Additionally, men of any age should consider undergoing preventive examinations to detect and treat potential urological health risks early.

Anamnesegespräch

Every check-up examination begins with a thorough collection of medical history, during which I will ask you questions not only about your current complaints but also about past illnesses, surgeries, medications taken, as well as family history (genetic predisposition to certain diseases). Questions about urination and erectile function are particularly important in urological practice and allow for the suspicion or exclusion of certain diseases.

Untersuchung

The physical examination includes palpation of the abdomen and lumbar region, examination of the groin area and male genital organs, as well as a digital rectal examination of the prostate gland. Especially the latter examination causes anxiety and often fear among many patients. This examination is as important for men over 50 as a regular gynecological check-up is for women and should be performed regularly by a urologist. For young men, an important preventive measure is the examination of the testicles. During the examination, I will remind you of the importance of regular self-examination and, if necessary, explain the technique of this simple examination.

Weitere Untersuchungen

If necessary, I perform ultrasound examinations of the kidneys, bladder, and prostate gland. All examinations are painless. In case of any abnormalities, I will prescribe further instrumental or radiological examinations.

Blut- und Urintest

An important part of the examination includes urine and blood tests, which can detect the presence of inflammation, bacteria, or elevated markers of certain diseases. Most tests can be conducted in my private practices. Spermogram analysis is carried out in a laboratory to which you can refer after receiving a special referral from me. Blood tests are usually ready within 24 hours. Microbiological tests take, on average, about 5 working days. You can request the results of your tests via email. If there are any deviations, I recommend further examination or treatment. Together, we will develop a treatment plan tailored to your individual situation.

The duration of the urological examination depends on your needs and complaints. The private practice atmosphere allows me to spend enough time with my patients to address most issues.

IPSS Score

Here you can complete a standardized international questionnaire on prostate complaints and a urination diary. You can either send the completed questionnaire to me electronically or print it out and bring it to your appointment.
